Why is learning about citizenship and democracy at school or university so relevant?
A recent study of over 27,000 young people across Europe highlights the impact of early democratic experiences, like for example participating in school councils, joining associations, or learning through hands-on projects, on later involvement in democratic life. These early experiences significantly enhance young people’s engagement in society and enable them to have a conscious role.
The VALUEBOX project and its goals are definitely aligned with these findings and the consortium is working towards the same objectives.
Through its self-assessment and recommendation tool, along with the Open Online course for teachers, it offers valuable resources to empower educators in nurturing the next generation of engaged citizens.
