This skills gap isn’t just a business problem—it’s threatening Europe’s competitiveness on the global stage.
The European Commission is responding with its ambitious “Union of Skills” initiative that aims to:
– Strengthen basic and advanced skills across the EU
– Create systems for regular upskilling and reskilling
– Make it easier to use qualifications across borders
– Attract and retain top talent in Europe
Key innovations include a Basic Skills Support Scheme, a new EU Vocational Education and Training Strategy, and an EU Talent Pool to connect employers with skilled workers from outside the EU.
